Raoul Dufy. A passion for colour
The artistic trajectory of multitalented French artist Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) followed that of the Parisian avant-gardes of the early twentieth century. A designer, painter, ceramicist, fabric designer and decorator, he collaborated with the greatest creators of his era, from Guillaume Apollinaire to Paul Poiret, and enjoyed immense success. The Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris's exceptional collection of paintings, including the famous La Fée Electricité (The Spirit of Electricity), painted for the 1937 Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques in Paris, will allow the public to discover, or re-discover the colorful style and virtuosity of Dufy, of whom Gertrude Stein said: "Raoul Dufy is pelasure".
