The Long Night of Museums

The 14th Long Night of Museums is on Saturday 19 May, when late-nighters will have free access, free of charge, to the exhibitions being held in the City of Paris museums.

The Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d'Angers, under the direction of Robert Swinston, will take over the spaces of the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris with choreographer Merce Cunningham's dance “Event”. Visitors to the Petit Palais can enjoy dance performances, mime, living sculptures, children as guides and a host of other activities as they explore the rooms and the garden.

There will also be music: by students from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the Musée Bourdelle, while members of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris will be performing among the vestiges in the Crypte archéologique de l'Île de la Cité. Visitors to the collections in the Musée Zadkine will be serenaded by the Collectif Cascad.

Over the course of the evening, as part of the "La classe, l'œuvre" scheme, students from Parisian schools will be on hand to greet visitors to the Crypte archéologique de l'Île de la Cité, and also in the Petit Palais, to show off their work and, in an unusual mediation format, to talk about the works that have made an impression on them.
